History:
- These Dories were originally designed in Swampscott, Massachusetts, for commercial
fishing in New England and the North Atlantic. They carried tremendous loads of
fish in all weather conditions. By the early 1900's, this type of dory became
very popular for recreational use--both rowing and sailing. They were noted for
their seaworthiness and speed, accomplishing some remarkable open water voyages.
- This boat has been in our family for the past several years and we have had
great fun with her. She has been sailed in St. Augustine, and St. Marys waters
with many trips to Cumberland Island. A very stable and seaworthy vessel. We have
sailed her in strong breezes with 6 persons aboard, and were dry and safe. The
boat is in great shape, and ready to welcome a new owner . We have more grandchildren
on the way and simply don't have the time to use her. She sits on a trailer under
a overhang on my house.
